SUMMARY:*Growing Harmony 2026 @ Wiston Lodge*
DESCRIPTION:Once again it’s time for the glorious biennial meet up with John Mark Harrison and Brendan Taaffe from the US with me and Jennie Fisk from UK. This year the event runs for 5 glorious days of singing\, laughing and community in the hills near the little town of Biggar in the South of Scotland from the 19th to 24th August 2026. \nThe venue is Wiston Lodge – originally a Victorian Hunting Lodge. It’s a great venue\, with a wooden hut added onto the main house\, which is ideal for singing. However\, there are no single ensuite rooms and very limited single rooms so if that kind of privacy is important to you we suggest you get a nearby BnB or camp. Tents\, caravans and camper vans are all welcome and there are showers for campers in the on-site Education Suite. \nDue to the high level of interest in this event we have tweaked our booking process from previous years. This means that instead of giving us a first and second choice for the room that you want\, you will be able to book the room that you’d like directly below. If you’ve missed out on the room that you’d like you can let us know in the comment section within your booking for a different room\, but there is no guarantee one will become available. Alternatively you can join the waiting list and we will be in touch if there is an opening. \nWe currently are not offering tickets for individual days this year but this may change in the future. \n\nTo book:\n1) Select the room that you would like below then\, fill out the required booking information. Most bookings are for one person\, aside from twin rooms\, which are a booking for two people who know each other. \n2) On the payment page please click to pay by ‘Direct Bank Transfer’ and take a note of the account details \n3) Click place order and then make the payment of a £100 deposit per person to the bank details that you took a note of. \n  \nIf you are buying a ticket internationally\, please feel free to opt to pay ‘via paypal’ on the payment page – or email us (admin@aliburns.co.uk) to receive details of another account that can accept your payment. \nIf you forget to take a note of the payment details feel free to email us for them. \nWe will invoice you for the balance of your place around three months before the event. \n\nPrice per person:\n\nSingle Room – £900 per person\nSingle rooms are largely based in the cabins. They have shared bathrooms. \n  \nTwin Room – £775 per person\nTwo of the twin rooms have single beds and one has a double bed and a single bed. All are ideal for couples or friends to share. If you book into a twin room you must know who you are going to share with and book together within one booking. \n  \nShared Room with Ensuite – £750 per person\nThe Main House has three of these rooms\, one of which is accessible. They will be shared with 3 or 4 people. These rooms are for women only. Please email us if you have any questions about this. \n\nMen’s Dorm – £675 per person\nWomen’s Dorm – £675 per person\nThe shared dorms have 4 or 5 bunk beds – we only use the bottom bunks – and a nearby toilet. \n  \nCamping – £600 per person\nAvailable for tents\, camper vans and caravans. Please note there is no power hook-up available. There are showers available in the Education Suite. \n\nNon-residential – £525 per person\nStay in the village or nearby Abbington\, Leadhills or Biggar. \n  \n\nNB: The deposit is £100 for all places  \n\nRefunds\nIf you cancel before 1st June 2026 we’ll refund your ticket (minus a £20 admin and bank charge fee). If you cancel between 1st June and 1st August we’ll refund your ticket minus the deposit price (£120) unless we can fill your place in which case we’re happy to refund your fees (minus a £20 admin and bank charge fee). If you have to cancel in August you’ll loose 100% of your fee unless we can fill your place. We recommend that you take out travel insurance. \n\n\n  \nOther Information\nBrendan and John are also doing a ‘Singing the Chapels’ weekend workshop on Sat 15thAug in Norfolk and nearby on 16th Aug in Suffolk. Booking for this weekend isn’t yet available but you can email sncommunitychoir@gmail.com with ‘please subscribe me’ in the subject line to hear more details later in January 2026.

SUMMARY:GOLDEN OLDIES at Cannon Frome Court Community
DESCRIPTION:I’m so excited about this workshop and  diving into my back catalogue of over 500 workshop songs and choosing some of my favourites – many of them not well known as I tend to write a new bank of songs for each year’s workshops and have been doing that for a long time now. Expect to sing some favourite rounds\, partner songs and one or two longer songs. Some you may know\, some not at all. I may even send out some learning files before the weekend so you can have a listen and familiarise yourself with your part before you come – no pressure though – everything will be taught from scratch. \nThe hospitality at Cannon Frome is always amazing – fresh coffee and home made cakes and a glorious soup and salad lunch. There’s some indoor accommodation available and room to camp or park a campervan with access to showers for a small fee. Set in the glorious surroundings of the gardens and land around this unique and beautiful community. \nCanon Frome Community are hosting this event and selling the tickets. You can buy them here: \nhttps://snappytickets.co.uk/event/singing-weekend-with-ali-burns-golden-oldies/ \n \n

SUMMARY:Winter Warmer - Edinburgh
DESCRIPTION:Last year’s Winter Warmer was such an exceptional weekend with Ben and Dom that I’ve invited them back for another workshop. This event has become one of the highlights in my singing year. It takes place in the glorious Columcille Centre in Edinburgh and you singers are always such a delightful and warm group of people. Hannah treats us to amazing spreads for lunch and Rachel will be bringing some of her exceptional home baking. I’ve had to put the price up a little – everything gone up so much in the last couple of years – but I’m hoping it’s still affordable.

DESCRIPTION:Join Ali Burns and Jennie Fisk for a day of glorious harmony singing on Saturday 22nd November in Wymondham.  Whether you’re a seasoned singer or consider yourself a novice\, this workshop is perfect for all levels. Songs will be taught by ear (with words available) in a relaxed and welcoming environment. This workshop has been organised by South Norfolk Community Choir. \n  \nAli says “I love the way that harmony singing is such an equaliser; the way singers lift each other to sing things we wouldn’t necessarily manage on our own. And I love the way you can leave the weight of daily life at the door and know that no matter how low or out of sorts you’re feeling\, singing will lift you into a better place.” \n  \nTo book a ticket (£35)\, please click here to go to the Eventbrite page. \nLocation: Roman Catholic Church\, 1 Norwich Road\, Wymondham\, Norfolk NR18 0QE \nParking: available at the venue; pay and display car parks nearby. \nTea & coffee will be provided; please bring your own lunch (Morrisons supermarket less than 5 mins walk). Please arrive in plenty of time to allow time for parking & registration. We look forward to seeing you!

SUMMARY:Hereford (October)
DESCRIPTION:There have been a few cancellations for this event so you’re very likely to get a ticket if you put your name on the waiting list. We’ll be in touch within a couple of days if you do. \nThe Hereford workshop this year filled up so quickly that we’ve put on another one in October! Join myself\, Ali Burns\, and the marvellous Jennie Fisk at Steiner Academy Hereford\, where there is a gorgeous hall with great acoustics surrounded by beautiful countryside\, for a weekend of singing on the 11th and 12th October 2025. \nOn both Saturday and Sunday registration is from 9.45am. Singing will start at 10.15am and the day ends at 4pm. A delicious lunch each day will be laid on and there is the opportunity to camp overnight at the venue for a small additional fee. We are able to cater for vegans\, vegetarians and people who are gluten free and dairy free. It’s not always possible to cater safely for other food allergies\, so in that case you may have to bring your own lunch – but do let us know if that might be the case and we’ll see what we can do. \nEarly bird tickets (available until 1st August) will cost £110 and thereafter tickets will be £120.  The price includes a freshly cooked lunch and all refreshments\, but not accommodation. If you fancy bringing a cake for tea breaks please feel free. We can’t wait to enjoy a weekend of original compositions\, singing and good company with you. \n
