The day will have a loose theme of Winter and will feature some of my best loved songs. Even though it sounds wintery it’ll be upbeat and celebratory! We’ll be singing in harmony and everything will be taught at a pace to support learning by ear although written music will be available to take home. \nThe venue is modern and warm with great acoustics and  I can guarantee we’ll have a great day of singing and community and warmth in as winter draws in.  Teas/coffee\, cake and lunch are all included in the price. Bargain! \nChoose what you can afford when you come to buy your ticket. \n  \nPublic transport: It’s a 20 minute walk from Glasgow Central station; 10 minute walk from Bridge Street Subway; buses from Glasgow Central to Bedford Lane (by Citizens Theatre) then 8 minute walk;  buses from the Southside of Glasgow either stopping at Bridge Street Subway or Bedford Lane; Parking: There is limited on-street parking nearby and a small amount of free parking directly by the Gorbals Parish Church. Be aware that there is a fee to park in the co-op car park next to Gorbals Parish Church and you may be fined for leaving your car parked and not paying for parking.

DESCRIPTION:Over the years – since 2002 – I’ve often been lucky enough to lead the Harmony Singing workshops at the Adult Fèis in Ullapool. And when I say lucky\, I mean really extraordinarily lucky because the group of singers who regularly go to this event are just an amazing group of humans and great singers taboot. \nAnyway\, I’m digressing. Because we’ve sung so many great songs together over the years we decided to have a weekend to re-learn some of them. There are already 30 regulars booked onto this event but I’m opening it up to my mailing list singers as I know some of you would really enjoy this. It’s taking place at the Birnam Hotel in the beautiful village of Birnam in Perthshire. It’s always a truly lovely weekend in the bleakest little bit of winter and I must say that it’s really nice for me to be teaching on my home territory. Tickets are £100 for the weekend. \n

DESCRIPTION:I can’t remember the last time I did a workshop in Glasgow so this will be a real treat. The day will feature some of my best loved songs with a loose theme of Community Resilience. It’ll be upbeat and celebratory! We’ll be singing in harmony and everything will be taught at a pace to support learning by ear although written music will be available to take home. \nThe venue is modern and warm with great acoustics and although I’ve never been there I can guarantee we’ll have a great day of singing and community and warmth in the middle of winter. Teas/coffee\, cake and lunch are all included in the price. Bargain! \nChoose what you can afford when you come to buy your ticket. \n  \nPublic transport: It’s a 20 minute walk from Glasgow Central station; 10 minute walk from Bridge Street Subway; buses from Glasgow Central to Bedford Lane (by Citizens Theatre) then 8 minute walk;  buses from the Southside of Glasgow either stopping at Bridge Street Subway or Bedford Lane; Parking: There is limited on-street parking nearby and a small amount of free parking directly by the Gorbals Parish Church. Be aware that there is a fee to park in the co-op car park next to Gorbals Parish Church and you may be fined for leaving your car parked and not paying for parking.

DESCRIPTION:My vision for The Gatherings was to teach fairly simple things and just to have a really good sing once a month. I’d been planning it for a while before Covid got in the way. So it was an amazing moment when\, at last\, in June 2022 we met in East Linton at The Mart – the old cattle mart\, now transformed as an events venue. \nI was joined by Neil Squires (bass) and Christine Carson (piano) and the morning exceeded our expectations. The singing was glorious as were the acoustics of The Mart. And it was all topped off by the great addition of fresh coffee and home-made cakes. No better way to spend a Saturday morning! So come join us for Octobers’s Gathering and join the fun. PLEASE NOTE that at the time of writing the venue for October is not definite. DESCRIPTION:Oh\, I love this weekend! Each year we have a great couple of days singing our hearts out. Jennie Fisk\, my co-leader\, gets to join me on her home ground for once and it’s become a regular fixture in our singing calendar – although it’s not always at the same time of year.  Come join us – it’s nice big room so there’s room for about 70 without being too squashed. The hall is light and airy and opens onto a patio for sitting out at lunchtime. Since the pandemic I’ve been asking everyone to bring a packed lunch but I’ll still provide teas and coffee. And if you’d like to bring some home baking to share I’m sure no-one would object! DESCRIPTION:SongTribe opens the doors to anyone to come along and try out the choir for the second of our ‘taster’ evenings. Nothing to pay unless you decide to join. This term we’ll be singing some gorgeous new arrangements and songs and rehearsing towards a 12th Night Concert on 6th January. And for the first 2 nights of term I’ll be demonstrating how we work so you can get a flavour of the group and see if you think it’s right for you. \nWe’re particularly looking for Sopranos this term. And when I use the term Soprano\, it’s not in the classical music sense. In a community choir we don’t sing very high or low – all the arrangements are crafted to sit within a certain ‘comfort zone’ for your voice. And if you don’t know what you sing just come along and try it out – you’ll be most welcome. The doors open at 6.30pm for tea biscuits and a bit of chat\, then we begin singing at 7pm with a warm up. \n“All my life I’ve loved the way that singing and songs can raise you up and make you feel better about being alive; the way that the right song at the right time can make you feel human and connected to the world. SongTribe is special. You don’t have to be a great singer to join but I am looking for people who are committed and keen to perform as well as we possibly can – and to having a lot of fun along the way.” Ali Burns
