The Earth Says to The Earth

One of my favourite songs in the shop: The text was gathered from the gravestone of James Ramsey d.1761 in Melrose kirkyard by the Scots song collector and antiquarian William Macmath 1844-1922. The original text reads: The earth goeth on the earth, Glistening like gold. The earth goeth to the earth, Sooner than it would. The earth builds on the earth, Castles and towers. The earth says to the earth, All shall be ours.

Lyrics

Oh the earth says to the earth
All shall be ours, all shall be ours
All your castles and all your towers
All shall be ours, all shall be ours.

We, we are the earth
We, we who build castles and towns
We who glisten like gold
We are the earth, we are the earth
